double-opt-in for registration of new users

I detected this problem in the “Responsive Classifieds Theme” but i think its in all themes the same.

At the moment new users receive after registration an email with username, password and a link to the login page.

In germany e.g. this way of user registration is prohibited by law in order to exclude the possibility of abuse through identity theft and spam emails.

Captchas are no solution for this topic.

Feature Request DOUBLE-OPT-IN:

After registration, a new user should receive an email with a confirmation link, he has to click on to proof, that he is the owner of the email-address. After a click on this link,
– he should be directed to a page, where he can set his password OR
– he should receive a second email with username, password and a link to the login page.

Thank u for for your attention 😉

In Australia Also this way of user registration is prohibited by law too, the same as for Germany.
It means I can’t use my Theme legally unless this is made to double opt in !!! So I obviously think it’s a good idea. :))

This is absolutely essential. We NEED this on all themes asap. It is safer and much more professional looking in the eyes of the user.
